Q1. Mr. Ruia, India and Vietnam have emerged as fast-growing economies in Asia. How do you see the current trade and investment opportunities between the two countries?
India and Vietnam share a long history of friendship, cultural exchange, and increasingly strong economic ties. Over the past decade, bilateral trade has grown significantly, crossing US$ 15 billion in recent years.
Vietnam is a gateway to ASEAN, while India is a global hub for IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and engineering. The complementarities between our economies are immense. India can support Vietnam with technologies in food processing, IT-enabled services, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals, while Vietnam offers strengths in electronics, garments, footwear, agriculture, and manufacturing.
Moreover, India’s “Act East” policy and Vietnam’s openness to global supply chains have created a natural synergy for trade, investment, and joint ventures.

Mr. Ajoykaant Ruia President, Indo-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IVCCI), had a meeting with the H.E Ambassador of Vietnam in Delhi.

Q2. IVCCI has been at the forefront of promoting India–Vietnam trade since its establishment in 1990. Could you share the role IVCCI has played over the years?
The Indo-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IVCCI), founded in 1990, was the first bilateral chamber in India dedicated to Vietnam. For more than three decades, our mission has been to act as a bridge for businesses and governments of both nations.
We have organized trade delegations, B2B meetings, exhibitions, and seminars to showcase opportunities in sectors such as food processing, textiles, IT, manufacturing, and renewable energy. We also facilitate business matching, investment advisory, and government-to-government dialogues.
Importantly, IVCCI has helped many Indian SMEs and corporates enter Vietnam, and equally, we have supported Vietnamese companies seeking partners in India.
Q3. You will be leading IVCCI’s participation at Vietnam International Sourcing (VIS) 2025. What are your expectations from this major event?
VIS 2025 is a flagship initiative by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, and it is the right platform for international businesses to connect with Vietnam’s manufacturing, export, and sourcing ecosystem.
For IVCCI, we see strong potential in four major sectors highlighted at VIS 2025:
– Food Industry & Export Support Solutions: turnkey projects in food processing, including freezing plants, cold storage facilities, and ice plants.
– Food and Beverage (F&B): Indian exporters of spices, tea, coffee, rice, and processed foods are ready to explore joint ventures.
– Home and Houseware: Indian importers of stainless-steel products, kitchenware, and home textiles.
– Lifestyle Essentials: collaboration in fashion, footwear, and wellness products.
We expect VIS 2025 to provide a platform for B2B matchmaking, project discussions, and long-term cooperation.

Mr. Ajoykaant Ruia President, Indo-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IVCCI), had a virtual meeting with Mr Bui trung Thuong – Trade Counsellor about the participation to the Vietnam International Sourcing 2025.
. What message would you like to share with Indian and Vietnamese businesses as they look towards deeper collaboration?
My message is simple: India and Vietnam are natural partners. Both nations complement each other’s strengths. This is the right time to invest in long-term collaboration, not just short-term trade.
We at IVCCI are committed to supporting every business big or small that wishes to explore opportunities across borders.
