Overview - IVCCI

Indo-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IVCCI) was set up in 1990 as a result of an MoU signed between the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IMC) the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Hanoi. It was largely due to IVCCI’s efforts and recommendations that the joint Business Council between India and Vietnam was set up in 1992 and the Vietnam Consulate in Mumbai in 1993. IVCCI has signed six MoUs so far. Over the last 33 years since IVCCI has been operating, bilateral trade between India and Vietnam has expanded several folds. IVCCI is recognized as a nodal agency to promote trade and economic relations between India and Vietnam by the Government of India and the Government of Vietnam.

In November 2011, IMC led a large strong, high-powered business delegation to Vietnam which participated in the India-Vietnam Business Summit and in extensive B2B negotiations in its flagship event “India Calling” Conference held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for exploring business and investment opportunities in Vietnam.

IVCCI also has so far sponsored several delegations to Vietnam; including the delegation of IVCCI along with IMC which took part in President of India’s State visit with business delegation to Hanoi, Vietnam. A total of 23 IMC and IVCCI members participated and few out of them have gone ahead with investment in Vietnam. During this visit an MoU has been signed between IMC and VCCI. We are proud of the fact that a senior representative of Bira 91, a manufacturer of Wheat Beer was part of this delegation and established manufacturing facility in Vietnam post the above delegation.

In the past IMC/IVCCI have hosted a large number of dignitaries from Vietnam, which include H.E. Du Moi, General Secretary of the Communist party of Vietnam, Prime Minister of Vietnam, Vice-Prime Minister of Vietnam, President of Vietnam, Minister of Finance, Minister of Planning, Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade, Chairman, People’s Committee of Hanoi and HCMC.

During the last 33 years following dignitaries from VietNam have visited IVCCI.
